The Shield’s original-series configuration delivers a micro-size footprint with straightforward controls and a manual thumb safety. Its striker-fired action uses a hinged two-piece trigger with an integrated safety, and it is capable of firing with the magazine removed (no magazine disconnect).
Construction emphasizes durability and corrosion resistance: the slide and barrel are stainless steel, both treated with S&W’s Armornite (nitride) finish. The 3.1 in barrel, 6.1 in overall length, and about 19.0 oz weight keep it slim and light for carry.
