The M&P15-22 Sport mirrors AR-15-style controls for intuitive handling, with a bolt catch on the left and magazine release on the right, plus a manual safety selector. Its polymer upper and lower receivers feature an integral trigger guard and a molded case deflector at the ejection port with no dust cover. A continuous Picatinny top rail provides uninterrupted mounting space for sights or accessories.
The 16 in carbon steel barrel uses a medium profile and is threaded at the muzzle, paired with an A2-style flash suppressor. The rifle operates via a reliable semi-automatic blowback system and carries a 25+1 capacity in .22 LR.
