The P. Beretta Mod. 8045 Cougar Type F is a compact/mid-size service-class .45 ACP built around the Cougar series' short-recoil rotating-barrel system. It pairs a steel slide with a black Bruniton finish and a light-alloy frame anodized black, with Italian proof marks and a Beretta USA Corp., ACKK, MD import mark. This Type F configuration adds ambidextrous slide-mounted safety/decocker controls, and the barrel and chamber are chrome-lined.

This Cougar series pistol uses a short-recoil, locked-breech rotating barrel, the hallmark of the line. The barrel and chamber are chrome-lined, and the 3.7 in barrel length delivers a compact profile within a compact/mid-size service format.
Controls are set up in the Type F configuration with ambidextrous, slide-mounted safety/decocker levers. Internal safeties include an automatic firing-pin block and a trigger bar disconnect when the safety is engaged. The DA/SA trigger and exposed spur hammer support both double- and single-action operation.
The slide is steel with a black Bruniton finish and rear cocking serrations. The frame is a light-alloy construction anodized black, and the pistol wears black checkered polymer grips with Beretta medallions.
Sights are a 3-dot setup with a front blade carrying a white dot and a dovetailed rear with two white dots. Sight radius is 5.3 in. Capacity is 8+1 rounds of .45 ACP.
