The EMP platform is a short-action 1911 specifically engineered for 9mm, with redesigned internals and a reduced grip circumference. This results in a compact, purpose-built 9mm 1911 that maintains familiar controls while offering a trimmer feel in hand.
Its construction pairs a matte stainless slide with a black aluminum-alloy frame for a durable two-tone finish. The slide is cut with both front and rear cocking serrations for confident manipulation. The 3.25 inch barrel is bushingless, ramped, fully supported, and bull-profiled.
The single-action, hammer-fired system includes a skeletonized, 3-hole lightweight trigger and a skeletonized hammer. Safety features consist of a thumb safety and a grip safety with memory bump.
Sights are dovetailed: a green fiber-optic front and a low-profile 2-dot rear. The pistol wears checkered wood grip panels with the Springfield Armory cross-cannon logo, and it has adhesive textured front strap panels for added traction.
This California-compliant model (PI9209LCA) ships with three 9-round magazines marked "Made in Italy by Mec-Gar for Springfield Armory." Capacity is 9+1, and the pistol is made in the United States.
