The XTR designation signifies an upgraded trim level, and this example reflects that with high-gloss walnut furniture, cut checkering, and an oval Winchester grip medallion. It was produced in New Haven, Connecticut, and is marked "Made in New Haven, Conn. U.S.A." and "WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL."
The 30 inch steel barrel is vent-ribbed with a single front bead for a clear sighting plane. It has a fixed Full choke and a 2 3/4 inch chamber, delivering a traditional field setup that favors tighter shot patterns.
This Model 1500 is a semi-automatic, gas-operated design with right-side ejection and a small rounded bolt handle. The cross-bolt safety includes a red ring indicator. A tubular magazine with a knurled cap provides a 2+1 capacity.
The stock assembly features a pistol-grip walnut stock with a white-line spacer and a hard plastic buttplate bearing the Winchester logo. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches, offering a classic fit and feel consistent with its era.
