Built from 2006–2008, the Model 798 Express pairs Remington branding with a Zastava-made commercial Mauser 98 action. The action uses controlled-round-feed with a full-length, non-rotating claw extractor. It also includes a swept bolt handle with a round knob and a right-side sliding safety on the receiver.
The 26-inch steel barrel is finished in polished blue and is equipped with practical iron sights: a ramped front sight (no hood) and a barrel-mounted adjustable open rear sight. The receiver is drilled and tapped and comes with two-piece scope bases already installed.
The brown laminated hardwood stock is set up for heavy-caliber use, featuring cut checkering, dual cross-bolts with black caps, factory sling-swivel studs, and a ventilated rubber recoil pad. Length of pull is 13.5.
Feeding is via an internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate, offering a 3+1 capacity in .375 H&H Magnum. The rifle carries gold-inlay model, caliber, and import markings, along with USSG – Rockledge, FL and Zastava – Serbia proofs. Overall, it is a straightforward, heavy-caliber express configuration built on a proven Mauser 98 pattern.
