The 182-Series Mini-14 is a pre-Ranch configuration, desirable for its classic features and early production timing. This example was manufactured in 1980 in the USA and is built around an investment-cast stainless receiver and a stainless, pencil-profile, crowned 18.5 inch barrel. It uses the proven Mini-14 detachable box magazine system and includes a stainless trigger guard.
A Choate Tool Corp. polymer side-folding stock with pistol grip is installed, providing a compact folding option while preserving a solid shoulder weld when extended. The upper handguard is a black synthetic piece with elongated ventilation slots that complement the lightweight barrel profile.
The Mini-14 gas system here features the 4-screw stainless gas block with an integrated front sling loop. Controls remain familiar, including the right-side reciprocating charging handle and the Garand-style trigger-guard safety. Sighting is via iron sights: a pinned ramp/blade front and a receiver-mounted aperture rear.
Included are two 30-round magazines, with one being a translucent polymer magazine of unidentified brand. A clamp-on multi-slot flash hider is currently fitted and is removable, allowing easy configuration changes. The listed length of pull is 14.5 inches.
