Made in Belgium in 1967, this Light Twelve features period-correct markings throughout, including Belgian Liège proofmarks, "12-70," "MADE IN BELGIUM," and the Browning Arms Company St. Louis Mo & Montreal P.Q. address. The 7G serial prefix confirms Light Twelve configuration and 1967 production.
The 26 inch steel barrel wears a ventilated rib with a matted sighting plane. It is marked with the FN two-star (**) code indicating a Modified choke, and the chamber is cut for 2 3/4 inch shells. Capacity is 4+1.
The long-recoil semi-automatic action uses Browning’s adjustable friction ring system to tune for light vs heavy 2 3/4 inch loads. Controls include a round operating handle, and this example retains the gold-colored trigger with the bolt left in-the-white.
Furniture is classic Auto-5: checkered walnut with a round-knob pistol grip, a long forearm, and a black FN "Automatic" hard buttplate. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches. The receiver is polished blued steel with factory Browning Grade I scrollwork, and the iconic humpback profile provides a familiar sighting plane.
