The R6520 Government Carbine combines a forged aluminum receiver set with a 16 inch lightweight/pencil-profile barrel and carbine-length gas system. The fixed A2 carry handle includes the A2 rear sight with 8/3 elevation drum, brass deflector, and round forward assist, matched to an A-type front sight post in a fixed front sight base.
The barrel is Colt-marked "C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7," denoting proof/MPI and a 1:7 twist. It is threaded with an A2 flash suppressor and retains the period-correct shaved bayonet lug found on many commercial Colts of the era. The upper receiver carries the "C MB" forging code.
Furniture is true to the Government Carbine pattern: a fiberlite two-position collapsible stock, A2 pistol grip, and CAR-length ribbed handguards. Controls include a manual safety (Safe/Fire). Capacity is 30+1 with compatible magazines.
This carbine is a pre-1994 configuration tied to the GC-prefix Government Carbine line and reflects a discontinued, late 1980s–early 1990s setup. An installed GG&G accessory block on the front sight base is the noted custom addition.
