This Scout Squad variant uses a gas-operated, short-stroke piston system with a standard right-side charging handle/operating rod. It is chambered in 7.62mm NATO (7.62x51) and accepts M14/M1A-pattern magazines, with a 10+1 capacity using the included 10-round magazine.
The rifle is built around a steel receiver and an 18-inch steel barrel, both finished in a matte black parkerized treatment. The muzzle features a cylindrical multi-ported brake (not a flash suppressor), and the top handguard includes a forward scout Picatinny rail.
GI-pattern iron sights are standard, with a protected front blade and a rear aperture adjustable via a windage knob and elevation drum. Protective ears shield the sights, aligning with the rifle’s practical, service-style configuration.
The black synthetic stock includes molded checkering for control, sling swivels, and a checkered pistol grip. The length of pull is 13.5 inches, and the buttplate is molded with the Springfield Armory crest. This rifle is manufactured in the USA by Springfield Armory in Geneseo, Illinois.
