The SA/M3-A1 retains hallmark M3A1-style operating features, including a simple blowback, closed-bolt action and an oval finger-slot charging system in the bolt. The ejection port is on the right side and includes a hinged, felt-lined dust cover that mirrors the original pattern.
Controls and handling are true to form with a left-side magazine release and a polymer pistol grip with circular texturing. The fixed iron sights consist of a front blade mounted on the barrel bushing and a fixed rear sight on the top cover. Length of pull is 12.75 inches, and the stock is the classic two-rod wire type with a looped butt. Sling attachment points are integrated on the receiver.
Construction is robust with a steel receiver finished in a gray parkerized/phosphate treatment. Receiver markings observed include: "SA/M3-A1 SEMI-AUTO cal. .45ACP" and "VALKYRIE ARMS, LTD. OLYMPIA, WA. USA." Additional component markings noted are "7161922" on the top cover and "B-301456-4 BGR-GL" on the underside of the trigger guard/bow.
Chambered in .45 ACP, this full-size rifle has a 16.75-inch, non-threaded barrel secured by a knurled M3-type barrel nut/bushing. It is compatible with standard M3-pattern magazines, and this example includes six 30-round mags for a 30+1 capacity when loaded.
