Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Hunter .270 WSM Single-Shot, 28 in Full-Octagon Barrel (Miroku Japan)
This Winchester Model 1885 High Wall Hunter is a Miroku-made, single-shot rifle chambered in .270 WSM with a heavy 28 in full-octagon barrel and a blued steel receiver. It features a high-wall falling-block action with an internal hammer, straight-grip walnut stock with checkering, and no iron sights. The rifle uses the classic high-wall receiver profile paired with a robust, single-shot falling-block action and an internal hammer. This configuration is known for strength and reliability, and here it is executed by Miroku in Japan under the Winchester Repeating Arms banner.
Its heavy 28 in full-octagon, blued barrel is purpose-built for stability and consistency, and it is clearly marked "MODEL 1885" and "CAL. .270 WSM ONLY." The chambering in .270 WSM provides modern magnum performance in a refined, single-shot platform.
The receiver is blued steel, and the barrel is drilled and tapped for a scope, with Leupold 30mm rings on a two-piece base already installed. The rifle is configured with no iron sights from the factory.
Stock furniture is walnut throughout, including a straight-grip buttstock and a checkered fore-end. The stock includes checkering for control, a recoil pad, and QD sling swivel studs, with a 13.5 in length of pull. A leather sling with QD swivels is already in place.
An adjustable trigger complements the single-shot action, allowing the shooter to fine-tune the break to preference while taking advantage of the rifle's rigid action and heavy octagon barrel.
