This Winchester Model 101 combines classic over/under handling with factory scroll engraving and a coin gray receiver finish. Built in Japan with matching-numbered receiver, forend iron, and barrel monobloc, it features 27-inch steel barrels, 2 3/4 and 3 inch chambers, and flush choke tubes in Improved Cylinder and Modified.
Condition
Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Overall Condition: Fair - Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.
Specific Condition Notes: The metal shows widespread scratches and blemishes with pitting and spots of rust on the action and barrels. The bores are healthy and shiny. Ejectors are well timed. The upper firing pin is in good shape and the bottom firing pin is pitted. The locking lug is past the 6 o'clock position and will need replacement soon.
Barrel fit is solid; the action drops with some resistance but still opens easily. The stock and forend exhibit neutral cast and a neutral grip.

The Model 101 platform is known for its balance and clean lines; this example adds factory scroll engraving with floral and rosette accents around the hinge and top lever. The receiver is steel with a coin gray finish, and the markings include MADE IN JAPAN, WINCHESTER – EAST ALTON ILL. U.S.A., and WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL.
The 27-inch steel barrels are topped with a ventilated rib and a brass bead front sight for a clear sight picture. Chambers are cut for both 2 3/4 and 3 inch shells, and the barrels are threaded for flush tubes, supplied here with Improved Cylinder and Modified chokes.
Stocked in walnut, the gun features a checkered pistol grip, a checkered beavertail forend with a Deeley-style lever latch at the rear, and a hard buttplate. The length of pull measures 14.0 inches with neutral cast to suit a wide range of shooters.
Controls and operation are straightforward: a tang safety, a single trigger, and well-timed ejectors support fast, repeatable shots. Capacity is two rounds, as expected for an over/under.
