The Scout Squad configuration uses an 18 in carbon-steel barrel with six-groove, 1:11 RH rifling and a factory multi-port muzzle brake. It is chambered in .308 Win and, per factory literature, is compatible with 7.62x51mm NATO. The detachable steel magazine provides a 20+1 capacity.
Sights include a National Match 0.062 in front blade and an adjustable rear aperture with marked windage and elevation knobs under protective ears. A forward, barrel-mounted scout-style Picatinny rail offers a solid mounting surface in front of the receiver.
The rifle wears an American walnut stock with a GI-style checkered steel buttplate, trapdoor storage, and a flip-up shoulder plate, along with sling swivels. A polymer upper handguard completes the classic M14/M1A furniture profile. Length of pull is 13.0 in.
Operation is via a gas-operated, short-stroke piston with a rotating bolt, combined with a two-stage trigger. The steel receiver and metal components feature a parkerized matte gray/black finish.
