The XD Service Model delivers a proven striker-fired system with locked-breech, tilting-barrel operation and a 4 in barrel for balanced handling. Its steel slide and barrel pair with a black polymer frame for durability and consistent performance.
Controls are intuitive and secure, with an ambidextrous magazine release, left-side slide stop, and a left-side takedown lever. Safety features include a grip safety, a trigger safety, and a tactile/visible loaded chamber indicator on the slide top bearing the Springfield crossed-cannons crest.
Target acquisition is straightforward via three-dot dovetailed iron sights, and the slide wears front and rear serrations for confident manipulation. An integral two-slot accessory rail is molded into the dust cover for mounting compatible lights or other rail accessories.
This example is the XD9101 low-capacity configuration with a 10+1 capacity and comes with five factory 10-round steel magazines and case. Markings include SPRINGFIELD INC. GENESEO, IL • MADE IN CROATIA on the frame, and the slide is marked 'XD-9'. The serial number appears on the barrel hood and the frame’s embedded metal plate (matching), with no serial number on the slide.
