The P220 R variant adds a railed dust cover, giving this full-size .45 ACP a versatile mounting interface. The slide is marked "SIG SAUER P220," the barrel hood is marked ".45 Auto," and the frame is marked "SIG SAUER INC., EXETER–NH–USA," consistent with U.S. manufacture in Exeter, New Hampshire.
Its action is DA/SA and hammer-fired, with a spurred external hammer and a decocking lever. The slide features rear serrations only and an open-top ejection port. Sighting is handled by fixed, dovetailed 3-dot sights: a white-dot front and a two-dot rear.
The frame is aluminum alloy for a balanced full-size configuration with a 4.4 inch barrel. The installed aftermarket textured grip panels provide added traction, and the original SIG Sauer factory grip panels are included if you prefer a factory configuration.
