The P226’s DA/SA action features an external hammer, a left-side magazine release, and a decocking lever placed ahead of the slide catch. It uses a short-recoil, locked-breech operating system and has rear cocking serrations for confident manipulation.
Factory fixed tritium night sights provide a clear 3-dot picture. The rear sight is stamped MH3, indicating tritium, and the front sight is stamped with 8 height for straightforward reference.
The alloy frame keeps weight balanced for a full-size pistol, while the rounded-profile integral 3-slot accessory rail on the dustcover supports common light attachments. A one-piece wraparound textured polymer grip with the SIG SAUER molded logo offers secure purchase.
Markings include the SIG SAUER P226 slide rollmark and SIG SAUER INC. EXETER-NH-USA on the frame, reflecting U.S. assembly of the frame/slide, and German proof marks on the barrel hood (oval "DE," eagle/N, and Ulm antler) indicating a German-made, German-proofed barrel. Three 15-round magazines are included and are stamped MADE IN USA with 5/10/15 witness holes.
