The 22 in heavy-contour, unfluted barrel is free-floated for consistent harmonics and features a recessed crown. The threaded muzzle uses the common 5/8x24 pattern, and the matte finish on the carbon-steel barrel matches the rifle’s purposeful look.
The aluminum chassis uses tan polymer skins over a black backbone for durable, repeatable bedding. An adjustable cheekpiece and spacer-adjustable length of pull provide a precise fit, complemented by a soft recoil pad. The action runs a right-hand bolt with a round knob and right-side ejection.
The flat-bottom fore-end includes M-LOK slots for direct accessory mounting, and the action-length Picatinny rail is canted 20 MOA to maximize scope elevation travel. No iron sights are installed.
Savage’s user-adjustable AccuTrigger with a central safety blade enables a crisp, tunable break. Safety features include a tang safety and integral trigger safety. Feeding is via an AICS-pattern detachable magazine, and this rifle ships with one 10-round magazine for a 10+1 capacity.
The carbon-steel receiver wears a matte black finish, and the rifle is USA-made. MDT branding is molded into the chassis, underscoring the chassis-driven design of this Axis II Precision variant.
