This USP Compact is the Stainless submodel with a two-tone look: a matte stainless slide over a black, glass-fiber-reinforced polymer frame. It is built in Germany and marked with Ulm proofs, and it bears the Heckler & Koch, Inc., Sterling, VA import mark. The frame shows the early pattern molding with "pat. pend." markings.
The pistol uses a recoil-operated DA/SA system in Variant 1, featuring a left-side safety/decocker and a firing pin block. The ambidextrous paddle-style magazine release is easy to reach from either side of the frame.
The 3.58-inch barrel is cold-hammer-forged with polygonal rifling. HK's USP recoil-reduction system is included, and capacity is 10+1 with the supplied magazine.
Sight regulation is via fixed, dovetailed 3-dot sights front and rear. The slide includes an external extractor and a top-of-slide chamber viewport. Note: The slide has been drilled and tapped with two threaded holes forward of the ejection port; this is not a factory feature. An USP-pattern proprietary accessory rail is molded into the dust cover for compatible accessories.
