This E Series takedown example combines period-correct features with early Winchester markings. The barrel address lists patent dates through Oct. 16, 1900, and the action slide bar is marked "MODEL 1897 - WINCHESTER - TRADE MARK." The takedown system has matching serials on both receiver and barrel assemblies.
The 24-inch plain round barrel is chambered for 2 3/4 inch shells and fitted with a fixed Full choke. A single front bead provides a clean sight picture. The tubular magazine provides a 4+1 capacity in 16 gauge.
Controls and operation are classic Model 1897: pump-action with an external hammer, right-side ejection, and a slam-fire capable trigger with no disconnector. Construction is all steel with a blued finish.
Furniture is walnut, including a checkered pistol-grip wrist and a grooved fore-end. A ventilated recoil pad has been installed, and the initials "PB" are carved on the underside of the wrist, reflecting period customization.
