The Hellion uses a bullpup layout that positions the action behind the trigger, combining a 16 in barrel with a compact, polymer receiver shell and metal core. It is marked with HS PRODUKT – MADE IN CROATIA and the Springfield Armory crest, reflecting its Croatian manufacture for Springfield Armory.
Its operating system is a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston with a two-position adjustable gas regulator marked N (normal) and S (suppressed). Ejection is reversible without extra parts, and the rifle includes an ambidextrous safety selector and ambidextrous charging handle.
The barrel is chrome-moly vanadium, nitrided for durability, and threaded 1/2x28 to accept compatible muzzle devices. It has a 1:7 twist rate and comes fitted with an A2-style flash hider.
Sighting and mounting options include integrated flip-up iron sights: a diopter rear with five apertures and a front sight with an elevation drum. A full-length Picatinny top rail with numbered slots and an M-LOK handguard provide accessory mounting, and QD sling cups are positioned at the front and rear.
The rifle accepts AR-pattern/STANAG 4179 magazines and has a 30+1 capacity. Additional ergonomic details include an adjustable length-of-pull stock with a raised cheekpiece and case-deflector geometry behind the magwell.
