The M&P 5.7 uses Smith & Wesson’s TEMPO gas-operated, locked-breech, two-piece barrel and shroud system paired with an internal hammer, single-action trigger. This configuration is purpose-built for the 5.7x28mm cartridge and is a defining feature of the model.
The 5 in stainless steel barrel is threaded 1/2x28 with a 1:9 twist, supporting common 5.7x28mm loads. The stainless steel slide and barrel wear a black Armornite finish for durability.
The slide is windowed with lightening cuts and comes optics-ready with the cover plate installed. Steel 3-dot white sights sit on top, with a 7.125 in sight radius for a clear, familiar sight picture.
The full-size polymer frame features an accessory rail on the dust cover and an ambidextrous slide stop. Controls include a flat-face trigger with a trigger safety, and this submodel has no external manual thumb safety.
Capacity is 22+1, and the pistol weighs 26.7 oz. Overall length is 8.5 in, height is 5.25 in, and frame width is 1.1 in. This example was made in the United States and includes two factory magazines.
