The Springfield Armory Echelon 4.0C U-Dot is a compact 9mm built around a modular serialized chassis and a 4.0 inch hammer-forged barrel with a Melonite finish. It features Springfield's VIS direct-mount, optics-ready slide, U-Dot iron sights, and an ambidextrous slide stop in a durable black, striker-fired configuration. This example is a recent-production variant with matching serial markings on the barrel, slide, and frame window, and it comes with two 15-round factory magazines.

The 4.0C compact configuration pairs a 4.0 inch barrel with a steel slide and a polymer grip module for a balanced, carry-friendly format. The barrel is hammer-forged with a Melonite finish and a 1:10 RH twist, and the slide wears a black Melonite treatment to match the frame.
Springfield's VIS direct-mount interface and an optics-cut slide with a cover plate provide a ready pathway for adding a pistol optic. The U-Dot iron sights combine a high-visibility front dot with a U-notch rear for a clear, fast sight picture when running irons.
The serialized Central Operating Group (COG) modular chassis anchors the design, while the ambidextrous slide stop/slide release, left-side magazine release, and multi-slot 1913/Picatinny dustcover rail support practical setup choices. Front and rear cocking serrations and top-corner traction cuts on the slide aid manipulation.
Chambered in 9mm Luger, this striker-fired model carries 15+1 capacity and includes two factory 15-round magazines. Markings include MADE IN CROATIA and SI GENESEO, IL. Part number is EC9409B-U. The Echelon series launched in 2023, and the platform earned an NTOA MTR Gold ranking in 2025.
