The Compact Magnum variant of the M77 Hawkeye is chambered in .338 Ruger Compact Magnum, a cartridge co-developed by Ruger and Hornady in 2008. This example was manufactured in 2011 and pairs that chambering with a 20-inch matte stainless barrel for a compact, corrosion-resistant setup.
The rifle uses Ruger's controlled-round-feed bolt with a non-rotating Mauser-type claw extractor for positive feeding and extraction. It includes Ruger's LC6 trigger and a three-position safety. An internal box magazine with a hinged floorplate provides a 3+1 capacity.
Sighting equipment is fully outfitted from the factory: a ramped front blade with a brass bead and an adjustable barrel-mounted rear sight. The receiver has integral Ruger scope bases machined in, and 1-inch rings are installed for straightforward scope mounting.
The stainless/synthetic All-Weather configuration keeps weight to approximately 6.75 lb. The black synthetic stock features molded checkering, a checkered pistol grip, sling swivel studs, and a recoil pad. Length of pull measures 13.5 inches.
