This 1970s Charles Daly Auto-Pointer is a Japanese-made, long-recoil 12 gauge with the classic humpback receiver profile and friction-ring load tuning. It features a 28 inch ventilated-rib field barrel, a 2 3/4 inch chamber, and a 4+1 capacity. Light factory scroll engraving and "Auto-Pointer" script on the receiver complement its blued finish and walnut furniture with cut checkering.
Condition
Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.
Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.
Specific Condition Notes: There is widespread rusting and pitting on the receiver, barrel, and bolt. Finish loss is present on the barrel. The wood furniture shows handling wear and scratching.

The Auto-Pointer uses a long-recoil operating system with friction rings that allow load tuning. Its humpback receiver profile offers the recognizable lines associated with this action type.
The 28 inch ventilated-rib field barrel is paired with a single brass bead front sight. The chamber is cut for 2 3/4 inch shells, and the tubular magazine provides a 4+1 capacity.
The receiver and barrel wear a blued finish. The receiver is steel and carries light factory scroll engraving along with "Auto-Pointer" script.
Furniture consists of walnut stock and forend with cut checkering. The stock has a pistol grip, a white-line spacer, and a hard rubber buttplate, with a measured length of pull of 13.75 inches.
Made in Japan during the 1970s, this example shows the period’s production characteristics. A "Y" prefix serial format is observed on this model series.
