The A17 platform uses a delayed-blowback action designed specifically for the .17 HMR cartridge. This rifle has right-side ejection, a right-side charging handle, and a front-of-well magazine release for straightforward handling. The detachable rotary magazine provides a 10+1 capacity.
The 22-inch heavy, straight-fluted carbon-steel barrel features a recessed crown and a 1:9 factory twist rate. The carbon-steel receiver and barrel wear a high-luster blued finish. Overall length is 41.5 inches, and weight is 7.1 pounds.
Its Boyds Pro Varmint laminated hardwood stock has a near-vertical pistol grip, a high straight comb, and a rear bag hook to support stable shooting from rests. The stock has a black textured finish, a 13.5-inch length of pull, and three sling swivel studs (two on the fore-end, one on the butt).
A receiver-length one-piece Picatinny rail is installed for mounting optics. The rifle includes the user-adjustable Savage AccuTrigger. Made in the USA; manufacturer part number 47223.
