The P227R configuration pairs a 4.4-inch barrel with a full-size alloy frame and a multi-slot accessory rail. It retains the classic P22X control layout, including a DA/SA trigger and decocking lever, along with a spurred hammer and matte black finish.
Dovetailed 3-dot tritium night sights deliver a clear, low-light sight picture; the rear sight is marked "MH3." The slide has a matte black finish with rear serrations only.
Factory Pennsylvania State Police Trooper markings set this pistol apart: the PSP crest and "TROOPER" are engraved on the slide top ahead of the rear sight. The serial carries a PSP prefix, and the factory part number is W227R-45-PASP.
