The R1 Stainless pairs a matte stainless slide and frame with traditional 1911 controls. It uses a Government-length slide with a standard barrel bushing and a 5-inch barrel, delivering the classic full-size 1911 format in corrosion-resistant stainless steel.
Sights are fixed 3-dot with both front and rear units dovetailed into the slide. Rear vertical cocking serrations provide a positive grip surface, and there are no front serrations. The flat mainspring housing and checkered walnut double-diamond grips offer a familiar 1911 feel.
Controls include a manual thumb safety, grip safety, and a Series-80–type firing pin block safety. The pistol has a short, solid trigger, a spur hammer, and a checkered magazine release. Factory capacity is 7+1, and two 7-round steel magazines are included.
Factory markings are present: the right side of the slide is marked "1911 R1S" with the Remington script on the left, the barrel hood is marked "45 AUTO," and the frame reads "REMINGTON ARMS CO. ILION, NY, USA." Case labeling notes Material/Model 96324 for the R1 Stainless.
