Its compact format with a 2.25-inch ported barrel and heavy underlug makes for a distinctive carry-length revolver with purposeful factory features.
The action is double-action/single-action with a polished trigger and a polished hammer featuring a checkered spur. Ruger’s transfer-bar safety and the SP101’s triple-locking cylinder design are present, reflecting the model’s robust operating system.
Factory fixed sights are present (ramp front blade and an integral rear notch). An aftermarket top-strap optic mounting plate is already installed, and the installed plate may affect use of the factory sights; it can be removed if a different sighting setup is preferred.
Chambered in .357 Magnum, the 5-shot cylinder also accepts .38 Special and .38 Special +P.
