The 586-8 Classic is a current-production configuration built in the United States, marked with the S&W crest rollmark and "MADE IN U.S.A. MARCAS REGISTRADAS SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MASS." It carries the Model 586-8 stamping in the yoke cut and features a six-flute cylinder and carbon-steel construction with a polished blued/black oxide finish.
This example is converted to double-action-only and fitted with a bobbed, spurless hammer. An internal key lock is positioned above the cylinder latch. The original spurred hammer and related small parts are included in the box, aligning with the note "Converted to DAO original hammer in box."
The 4-inch heavy barrel has a full-length underlug and an extractor-rod shroud, with a serrated topstrap and barrel rib to reduce glare. Capacity is six rounds. The setup delivers the familiar L-frame balance with robust barrel and shroud geometry.
Sights are iron: a pinned red-ramp front blade paired with a micrometer-adjustable square-notch rear. Checkered wood target-style grips with S&W medallions provide a solid, traditional hold consistent with the Classic series look and feel.
