The 22 inch steel barrel is plain and round with no rib and is fitted with a fixed modified choke. Sighting is a front brass bead only; there is no rear sight. The chamber is 3 inches.
The barrel and topstrap are blued, while the receiver sidewalls have a satin silver (in-the-white) finish; the shotgun has a black trigger guard. The hardwood stock has a straight comb and pistol-grip profile with a black recoil pad, paired with a checkered hardwood fore-end (pressed diamond pattern). Length of pull is 14.0 inches.
Factory markings include the receiver stamp "NEW ENGLAND FIREARMS CO., INC., GARDNER, MASS. U.S.A." and the barrel roll-mark "HANDI GUN MODEL SB2 12 GA. 3 in MOD," along with U.S. Patent No. 3,988,848.
