This RFI Ishapore Rifle 7.62mm 2A is a 1960s Indian-made SMLE-pattern bolt-action chambered for 7.62 NATO. It features the strengthened 2A receiver and bolt, a 25.2-inch barrel, and clear 1965 R.F.I. butt-socket markings with the Lion Capital of Ashoka. Matching serial numbers are observed on the barrel reinforce/knox form and the fore-end/nose-cap boss, and an import mark is present on the right receiver wall referencing Hurley, NY.

Made in India by Rifle Factory Ishapore, this Rifle 7.62mm 2A is built on the Lee–Enfield No.1 Mk III–pattern action with a charger bridge and a nickel-steel receiver strengthened for 7.62x51 NATO. The 25.2-inch barrel and 10-round detachable box magazine align with its service-oriented configuration.
The left butt-socket carries the Indian state emblem (Lion Capital of Ashoka) over the correct R.F.I. legend: "RIFLE 7.62mm 2A R.F.I. 1965." The right receiver wall bears an import stamp that includes "… HURLEY NY." The letter "L" is stamped on the left sight protector. Matching serial numbers are observed on the barrel reinforce/knox form and the fore-end/nose-cap boss.
Sighting equipment follows the SMLE layout: a protected blade front sight housed within a No.1 Mk III–type nose-cap and a barrel-mounted tangent rear sight with protective wings and a sliding ladder. A bayonet bar/lug is present and accepts the Pattern 1907 bayonet.
The full-length hardwood stock with SMLE-style upper handguards includes a metal buttplate and sling swivels, and the length of pull measures 13.5 inches. Controls are familiar to Enfield users, with a left-side safety lever on the bolt-action system.
