Product Description

    Remington Model 1894 A Grade AE 12 Gauge Side-by-Side, Damascus Barrels, 1899

This Remington Model 1894 A Grade with Automatic Ejectors (AE) is a hammerless American double manufactured in 1899 at Ilion, New York. It features two-stripe Damascus steel barrels with a solid matted rib and a brass bead, a boxlock action with double triggers, and a tang safety. Marked with the "REMINGTON ARMS CO." receiver legend and patent and grade stamps, it presents as a period-correct AE-grade example with matching serials on major components and noted custom additions.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Fair condition, showing extensive signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Condition: Fair - Generally clean, some residue or smudges, slight corrosion.

Specific Condition Notes: There is a dent on the right side of the barrel that is visible from the interior of the bore. The receiver and barrels show surface pitting, finish loss, and scratching. The walnut furniture has various dings and handling marks. A rubber recoil pad is fitted, and a wood cheekpiece/riser is attached to the right side of the butt.

    What's Included

    • Remington Model 1894 A Grade with Automatic Ejectors (AE) 12 Gauge side-by-side shotgun
    • Installed rubber recoil pad
    • Attached right-side wood cheekpiece/riser

Remington’s Model 1894 AE pairs the A Grade trim with factory automatic ejectors, a hammerless boxlock action, and double triggers. This example was produced in 1899 in Ilion, New York, and holds two rounds. The action uses a top lever and tang-mounted safety for straightforward operation consistent with period Remington doubles.

The barrels are two-stripe Damascus steel with a visible pattern, set in a side-by-side configuration and topped with a solid matted rib. A single small brass bead serves as the front sight, providing a traditional sighting reference for the platform.

The walnut stock features a pistol grip and hand-cut checkering, matched by a splinter forend secured with an Anson-style push-button latch. Custom work includes a fitted rubber recoil pad and a right-side wood cheekpiece/riser on the butt.

Period markings are present: the receiver is roll-stamped "REMINGTON ARMS CO.", the water table carries the "A" grade stamp, and the forend iron is stamped "PATENTED OCTOBER 30TH 1894." Major components display matching serials. Approximately 41,194 Model 1894s were produced in total, situating this gun within a well-documented production run of Remington’s late-19th-century doubles.
