The Bugout Edition combines the Shield Plus micro footprint with practical upgrades for carry and storage. The stainless steel slide and barrel wear a matte black Armornite finish, and the slide features front and rear serrations plus an optics cut for mounting a red dot.
Sight picture is driven by tritium night sights, with a high-visibility orange-ring tritium front and a black tritium rear. The striker-fired action uses a flat-faced trigger with an integral safety lever, and the pistol includes a trigger safety and a loaded-chamber viewport.
This configuration has no external thumb safety and is marked on the slide "CAUTION—CAPABLE OF FIRING WITH MAGAZINE REMOVED." The slide is also marked "SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD, MA U.S.A."
