The PT 738 TCP uses a short-recoil, locked-breech, double-action-only trigger system with an internal shrouded hammer. The slide locks open after the last round, aiding quick and confident reloads.
Its micro footprint makes it highly compact: approximately 5.2 in overall length, 3.75 in height, and 0.87 in width, with an unloaded weight of about 10.2 oz. Capacity is 6+1 in .380 ACP.
Construction details include a matte blue slide with rear serrations and a stainless steel barrel. The black polymer frame features molded polymer grips with horizontal ribbed texture and Taurus bull medallions.
Sighting is straightforward with fixed, low-profile sights integral to the slide, highlighted by a yellow-painted front blade. Safety features center on the long DAO trigger and internal safeties; there is no loaded-chamber indicator and no Taurus Security System (key lock).
