Built in 1982, this 183-Series Mini-14 is a true pre-ban example. It is the standard pre-Ranch configuration without integral Ruger scope ring cuts and uses the open-top receiver with a right-side charging handle. The rifle features stainless steel construction for both the receiver and barrel and is made in the United States.
The 18.5" stainless barrel is tapered with a plain crown. It carries a wing-protected front sight integral to the front-sight base. In keeping with the era and configuration, there is no factory flash suppressor or bayonet lug; a clamp-on slotted muzzle device is included and removable.
Optics are addressed with an installed Bushnell Sportview 3-9x40 variable scope, mounted via a receiver-mounted base and rings (non-factory). Iron-sight use may be affected by the current optic and mount configuration.
The action is a gas-operated, fixed-piston system with a rotating bolt, paired with a cross-bolt safety. Capacity is 30+1 with the included 30-round steel magazine. The hardwood stock has a straight-comb, semi-pistol-grip profile with sling swivels, and the rifle is topped by a ventilated black upper handguard with rectangular cooling slots. Length of pull measures 12.5".
