The Security-9 Compact uses Ruger’s Secure Action system: a hammer-fired, locked-breech design with a short, crisp single-pull and positive reset. The internal/enclosed hammer and 1:10 RH twist alloy steel barrel are paired to deliver consistent mechanical performance in a compact footprint.
Safety features include a manual thumb safety, integral trigger safety, internal hammer catch, and a loaded chamber viewport. Sights are a fixed white-dot front and a drift-adjustable rear notch for straightforward alignment.
The glass-filled nylon frame is built over an aluminum chassis and carries Ruger phoenix logos with “RUGER” molded into the grip panels. An integral accessory rail is molded into the dust cover for mounting compatible accessories.
The slide wears a blued/black oxide finish, and the frame is marked “RUGER • PRESCOTT, AZ • USA.” Per the on-frame warning, this model is designed to fire with the magazine removed.
This 2024 example, factory-designated Model 3818 (SKU 03818), ships with two 10-round steel magazines, supporting a 10+1 capacity when chambered.
