The BAR MK3 uses Browning's gas-operated, short-stroke piston system to deliver smooth, semi-automatic operation in .30-06. The bolt locks open after the last round, and ejection is to the right side. A cross-bolt safety and gold-colored trigger complete the familiar BAR control layout.
The 22 inch barrel is crowned, and no iron sights are installed. Capacity is 4+1 with a detachable box magazine; on non-DBM models, the magazine is attached to the hinged floorplate.
The composite stock and fore-end wear a Mossy Oak camouflage finish and incorporate overmolded grip panels for secure handling. Browning's Inflex recoil pad is fitted at the butt, and the length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
The aluminum alloy receiver is finished to match the Mossy Oak camouflage of the furniture. The fore-end has a flush, threaded insert for a screw-in sling swivel stud; the stud itself is not installed.
