Built on a stamped AKM-pattern receiver, this SA 85M Sporter includes desirable Hungarian features such as magazine-well dimples, a ribbed top cover, and a vented gas tube with a 45-degree slant-front gas block. Import and maker markings include K.B.I., Inc. Harrisburg, PA, the FÉG hexagon logo, and "MADE IN HUNGARY."
The 16.5-inch barrel is cold-hammer-forged and chrome-lined with a plain crown and unthreaded muzzle. Sighting is via a front post and a tangent rear leaf graduated to 800 meters, providing a traditional AK sight picture.
This factory sporter import configuration pairs blonde wood furniture with a thumbhole stock, and it omits a bayonet lug and cleaning rod as imported. The stamped steel receiver keeps it light and durable, and the rifle accepts detachable AK-pattern 7.62x39 magazines. Length of pull measures 14.0 inches.
Operation is via a semi-automatic, long-stroke gas piston system with a rotating bolt and selector lever safety. Capacity is 30+1 with the included 30-round PMAG, and the two-piece wooden handguard completes the classic look.
