The XD-40 Sub-Compact delivers .40 S&W performance in a sub-compact package built around a 3-inch hammer-forged steel barrel with a 1:16 RH twist. It uses a dual captive recoil spring assembly and feeds from 11-round and 9-round factory magazines for a total capacity of 11+1.
Factory Trijicon tritium 3-dot night sights are dovetailed front and rear, with the front sight marked H3 07. The slide features front and rear serrations for straightforward manipulation, and the overall finish is black.
This striker-fired, semi-automatic pistol includes a comprehensive safety suite: grip safety, two-piece trigger with trigger safety, loaded-chamber indicator, striker status indicator, and an internal striker block.
