The integrated frame laser is the Insight Technology LSW-000-A1 module with ambidextrous side buttons. Note that this first-generation configuration uses the Insight unit, not the later Crimson trace laser frame. The laser is housed in the frame for a low-profile setup that maintains the pistol’s compact dimensions.
The slide and barrel are stainless steel with a black Melonite/Armornite-type finish for surface hardness and corrosion resistance. The frame is high-strength black polymer with textured grips bearing S&W medallions. Steel sights are dovetailed, with a fixed front blade and a drift-adjustable rear notch.
Operation is double-action-only and hammer-fired, with a shrouded/bobbed hammer and second-strike capability. Controls include a manual thumb safety. The frame is marked to indicate the pistol is capable of firing with the magazine removed.
Sized for discreet carry, the Bodyguard 380 uses a 2.75 in barrel and a 6+1 capacity. This example includes five factory magazines with finger-rest baseplates and a speed loader, providing a complete range setup out of the box.
