Built around HK's roller-delayed blowback system, this P9S uses a fixed polygonal barrel measuring 4 inches. The barrel is a polygonal barrel, and it remains fixed in the frame, a hallmark of the P9S design.
Controls are DA/SA with a slide-mounted decocker/safety. The pistol uses a concealed hammer with a rear indicator pin, and the slide wears rear diagonal serrations for a secure grasp.
Sights are three-dot iron sights, with a front blade featuring a white insert and a square-notch rear with two white dots. The textured black grip carries the HK medallion.
Construction includes a stamped-steel main frame, steel slide, and a polymer trigger-guard/grip module. Capacity is 7+1 with single-column steel magazines; two 7-round magazines are included.
