Product Description

    Mauser C96 Red 9 Prussian Contract 9mm Luger (1918) — Matching-Number Pistol, Blued, with Stock/Holster

This is a WWI-era Mauser C96 "Red 9" Prussian Contract pistol chambered in 9mm Luger, produced in 1918. It features the signature grooved walnut grips with large red "9" inlays, imperial German acceptance marks, and the "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER / OBERNDORF A NECKAR" address rollmark. The firearm has matching numbers throughout the pistol, with matching serials observed on the rear sight base and back of the frame; the included buttstock/holster is not matching. It comes with the correct tangent rear sight, stock slot, and lanyard ring, along with a period-style stock/holster rig and cleaning rod.

    Condition

Overall Condition: Good condition, showing some signs of prior use and handling.

Bore Overall Condition: Good - Clean, well-maintained, minor wear marks.

Bore Rifling: Good Rifling - Intact, well-defined lands and grooves.

Specific Condition Notes: For its age, the pistol presents well, with minor superficial scratches and scattered finish wear visible across high-contact areas. Surfaces are generally smooth with no notable pitting observed.

    What’s Included

    • Wood-handled steel cleaning rod
    • Leather stock holster/harness rig
    • Mauser C96 wooden shoulder stock/holster with mounting iron

The Prussian Contract "Red 9" is a distinct C96 variant built for 9mm Luger, and it is immediately identified by its large red "9" inlays on the grooved walnut grips. This example bears imperial German acceptance/proof marks and the factory "WAFFENFABRIK MAUSER / OBERNDORF A NECKAR" rollmark, aligning it squarely with WWI-era production.

Mechanical and sighting features are correct for the pattern: a short-recoil, locked-breech system with a step-barrel, a tangent rear sight graduated 50–500 meters, and a fixed front blade. It retains its stock slot in the grip and a lanyard ring. Charger guides support top-loading of the stripper-clip-fed integral magazine.

Numbers are matching across the pistol, with matching serials noted on the rear sight base and the back of the frame. The included shoulder stock/holster is not matching to the pistol. The bore is clean with well-defined rifling, and the small-ring hammer is paired with the later two-position "new safety" lever.

Included accessories complement the pistol's original configuration and features: a Mauser wooden shoulder stock/holster with mounting iron, a leather stock holster/harness rig, and a wood-handled steel cleaning rod. The setup supports proper carry and use of the stock slot and lanyard ring as designed.
