Chambered in 5.7x28mm, the P50 uses a straight blowback, hammer-fired, single-action system with bottom ejection. Its distinctive hinged upper assembly provides access for loading the PS90-pattern 50-round magazine, delivering a stated 50+1 capacity.
The 9.6 in barrel is threaded 1/2x28 TPI and free-floating, with a factory twist rate optimized for 5.7x28mm projectiles. Sighting is user-configurable; the platform is optics-ready for mounting sights or optics as desired.
A top Picatinny rail section and a forward accessory rail offer broad mounting options. The upper shroud features lightening/ventilation ports to reduce weight and aid cooling during extended use.
The receiver is aluminum with a black finish mated to a black, glass-reinforced nylon polymer frame. The pistol retains Kel-Tec’s square "gator" texture grip panels for confident handling. Overall dimensions are 15 in in length, 6.7 in in height, and 2.0 in in width, with an unloaded weight of approximately 3.2 lb.
Controls include a rear/top charging handle configuration and a trigger weighing about 5.0 lb. The bolt does not lock open on an empty magazine. The pistol is marked "Made in the USA" with model and caliber on the receiver.
