Built at the Long Branch factory and marked accordingly on the receiver, this Canadian-made No.4 Mk I* reflects 1944 wartime production. The Mk I* pattern incorporates the simplified bolt release devised for North American manufacture while preserving the Lee-Enfield’s rear-locking, cock-on-closing action that defines the series.
The rifle features a 25.2 inch forged-steel barrel with the correct No.4 bayonet boss/lug, a protected front sight, and a receiver-mounted rear sight base consistent with the No.4 pattern. Capacity is 10+1 with the included steel box magazine, consistent with the No.4 pattern.
Canadian C-broad arrow ownership marks and Canadian inspection stamps are present on the barrel reinforce, and an ENGLAND export stamp is applied, adding clear provenance. These markings, combined with the Long Branch receiver legend, provide traceable origin and period context.
The wood has been sporterized: the upper handguards are removed and the fore-end shortened. It retains the two-piece hardwood stock with an oil finish and an alloy buttplate featuring a trap for an oiler/pull-through. Length of pull is 13.0, offering a traditional Lee-Enfield shoulder fit.
