Winchester Model 140 Ranger 20 Gauge Semi-Auto Shotgun, 28" Vent-Rib Barrel, WinChoke, Blued
This Winchester Model 140 Ranger is a gas-operated 20 gauge autoloader built in New Haven, Connecticut. It features a 28" vent-rib steel barrel with the WinChoke interchangeable choke system and a clean, mirror-bright bore. The Ranger trim pairs blued steel with classic wood furniture and a black gloss receiver for a straightforward, durable field setup.
The Ranger is the value-trim variant within the Winchester 140/1400 family, retaining the same core autoloading design. It is chambered for 2 3/4" shells with a 2+1 capacity. The right-side ejection and charging handle, along with a cross-bolt safety, keep operation familiar and intuitive.
The 28" barrel includes a vent rib and a single front bead for a clear sighting plane. An extended, knurled WinChoke tube is installed, and the barrel is marked Winchester Proof Steel. The knurled magazine cap and tubular magazine under the barrel support practical field use and easy takedown.
Controls are simple and functional, including a bolt/carrier release button forward of the trigger guard. The wood stock and forend have diamond-pattern checkering, a pistol-grip profile, and a hard buttplate. The 14.0" length of pull supports a comfortable and steady mount.
Finishes include a traditional blued barrel and a black gloss receiver. The overall presentation is clean and well-kept, matching the described condition and the bright, excellent bore.
