The MCX Virtus operating system uses a semi-automatic short-stroke gas piston with an adjustable gas valve, allowing the user to tune for ammunition and suppressor use. Its bufferless internal recoil system enables the rifle to be fired with the stock folded, increasing flexibility in storage and deployment.
The 16-inch barrel is threaded and capped with a 3-prong flash hider. A quick-change barrel system with captive clamping screws and MULTI-CAL marking supports caliber and configuration changes within the MCX family. The continuous MIL-STD-1913 top rail runs from the receiver through the handguard for uninterrupted mounting space.
Ergonomics and controls are modern and user-focused: ambidextrous charging handle and safety selector, a right-side magazine release, and a left-side bolt catch. The two-stage Matchlite Duo trigger provides a refined trigger feel suited to the platform’s performance goals.
