This FN Herstal SCAR 17S is a Belgian-marked 7.62x51 NATO rifle with the reciprocating charging handle configuration, a monolithic aluminum upper with full-length MIL-STD-1913 top rail and numbered index marks, and an external adjustable short-stroke gas system. It features a cold hammer forged, chrome-lined 16.25 inch barrel with a threaded muzzle and an installed multi-port muzzle brake. An aftermarket MREX MK1 extended M-LOK handguard and a Magpul pistol grip are installed, and six 20-round magazines are included.

The SCAR 17S operates via a semi-automatic, short-stroke gas piston system with an external adjustable gas regulator. This example retains the reciprocating charging handle configuration specified for this model. The monolithic aluminum upper integrates a full-length MIL-STD-1913 top rail with numbered index marks for repeatable positioning.
Its 16.25 inch steel barrel is cold hammer forged, chrome-lined, and threaded, and it is fitted with an aftermarket multi-port muzzle brake marked with Pat. No. 8,042,448. The barrel and gas system are purpose-built for 7.62x51 NATO performance and durability.
The folding, telescoping stock includes an adjustable cheek piece, and the polymer lower houses ambidextrous controls including the safety selector and magazine release, plus a left-side bolt catch. A Magpul pistol grip is installed for a modern control interface.
An MREX MK1 extended M-LOK handguard is installed, providing extended forward gripping surface and M-LOK interface along its length. The rifle retains its folding front sight at the gas block and folding rear aperture sight with range drum. Receiver markings include the FN HERSTAL BELGIUM rollmark, FN oval logo, FNH USA Fredericksburg VA import mark, and the model/caliber marking "SCAR 17S cal. 7.62x51."
