The SFAR format delivers a .308 Win chambering in a small-frame build that maintains AR-15-sized receivers while using SR-25/LR-308 pattern magazines. This example is a 2025 production rifle with Mayodan, NC markings and an approximate unloaded weight of 6.8 lb, offering a compact .308 configuration without excess bulk.
The 16.1 in barrel is 4140 chrome-moly steel with cold hammer-forged 5R rifling and a black-nitride finish. It is threaded 5/8x24 and fitted at the factory with Ruger's two-port Boomer muzzle brake.
The semi-automatic, direct-impingement system uses a mid-length gas system and a 4-position adjustable gas block (0–3) to tune operation. A dual-ejector bolt with reinforced lugs is part of the design.
Furniture and controls include a Magpul MOE SL adjustable stock and Magpul MOE pistol grip, an ambidextrous safety selector, and a standard right-side magazine release. The 15 in free-float aluminum M-LOK handguard features an interrupted (docked) top rail and integral QD sling sockets. No iron sights are installed. The rifle comes with a 10-round PMAG LR/SR Gen M3 marked 7.62x51, plus an installed M-LOK QD sling mount and an M-LOK Picatinny accessory rail section.
