The 8.375-inch barrel uses a tensioned rifled tube within a barrel shroud, paired with a full-length underlug/ejector-rod shroud. It is ported and equipped with an interchangeable compensator, and the top rib is serrated.
Built on the XL-size X-Frame, the revolver features a five-shot fluted cylinder and a double-action/single-action mechanism. Major components, including the frame and cylinder, are stainless steel with a satin stainless finish.
Sighting equipment includes a red-ramp front sight on a pinned base and an adjustable rear sight. The revolver is fitted with black rubber finger-groove grips and incorporates a key-operated internal lock.
Markings include SMITH & WESSON on the barrel right, 500 S&W MAGNUM on the barrel left, MADE IN U.S.A.
